Thanks t o the Lord for placing us in the Stream of Eternal Life the Logos. Here we flow with God. Here others have floated on God's stream to eternity. This Memorial Day weekend we reflect on eternal life given by Jesus our Lord to us and to others who have gone before us.

Thanks to all who have given to the Memorial Fund in memory of loved ones over the years! A book at the top of the front entrance has pages naming memorials given in honor of person who have died. Recently we have purchased five new trees that are growing in front of the building, three coat racks, and the cement benches at the front entrance. An earlier purchase included furnishings for the kitchen.

The Sunday school class taught by Jim Hall will resume in the fall. As he did last year, Jim is taking the summer off to visit family.

Today all are invited to an open house celebration in honor of Nate Begly who graduated from Princeton Christian Academy on Friday evening. A hog roast meal begins at noon at 330 W Main St. in Tiskilwa.

Tomorrow is

Today we ponder and celebrate God's awesome love to us in Jesus the Son as we take part in communion. All who know Jesus as Lord & Savior and desire to follow Christ are welcome to the table.

Mennonite Women are invited to attend Science Ridge MW Guest Day on Thursday, October 5. C ontact Jane Sears or Elaine Gerber for information on rides to Sterling . Time will be about 9 am - 4 pm .

We will be participating together in a congregational/pastoral evaluation. Please take the blue sheets home and reflect on our life together as Willow Springs. Next Sunday there will be a sign up sheet available for feedback interviews.

Upside Down
Mission Retreat: Thanks to all who helped make our retreat a blessed time of reflection on the continuing mission of Christ. There was great fellowship and food!

Quilt:
Please take time to admire the quilt that was knotted at the Retreat. It is hanging on the bench in the foyer. The quilt was pieced by Helen Kaufmann, knotted by many of you, and bound by Shirley Sears. It will be given to MCC. One recipient of an MCC quilt said, ``It is the most precious gift ; I can see the human love in it.''

Do you KNIT?
Contact Jane Sears if you would like to make a prayer shawl.

Our sympathies
to Marilyn and Eldon Eigsti in the death of her stepmother Arlene Steiner who passed away Wednesday , Sept. 27. The funeral took place yesterday in Orrville , Ohio .

We thank our Willow Springs Church family for the many ways you helped us in providing food, fellowship, prayer and in other ways during Bill's final days and funeral service. Many people expressed appreciation for the service and the way you cared for us.
The family of Bill Kaufmann

This morning we explore how God's map for us comes to us as Jesus lived, died, and arose again to set us free. We now live as God's child since we are redeemed from trying to live only with our own directions. From the Seven Core Convictions of the Mennonite ChurchMennonite Mapology #2``Jesus is the son of God who showed in his life and teaching how to be faithful, and through the cross and resurrection redeemed the world.'' But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God. John 1:12

From the brochure Seven Core Convictions of the Mennonite Church , we come to #6: ``The faith community gathers regularly to worship, to celebrate the Lord's Supper and to hear the word of God in a spirit of mutual accountability.'' The spirit stirs our hearts to grow as God's people. Part of our map then is to devote ourselves as the early church did. They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. Acts 2:42
As the early church devoted themselves to the breaking of bread, we break bread in the communion portion of our worship service. All who accept and hold Jesus as Lord and Savior are welcome to partake in communion this morning. Crackers and grapes are available for children.

Our theme for Advent will be ``Love's Revelations,'' beginning next Sunday. Come for a simple breakfast and rich fellowship from 8:45-9:15. Come expecting the love of God to continue to break into our lives. Also, we will have anointing as part of our worship next Sunday. Today, following Sunday school, please consider staying to help decorate the sanctuary and hallways.

Come and Dine Luke 5:29 is this Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 5:29 pm. Come for supper and fellowship. Following the meal will be a brief worship service and then Venture Club and adult Bible study on John 14. Thanks for signing up to bring food or to carry out a specific role in the evening!

Willow Springs Mennonite Church
is to be a community of believers
following our Lord Jesus Christ
in word and deed.

Our discerning mission vision: Willow Springs Mennonite Church is:
…a group of sincere believers and followers of Christ, seeking to share our joy as we follow Jesus as the only Savior, and reaching out in various ways to share with all that will learn of Jesus.
…faithful to Christ's calling to worship in Spirit and in Truth and be Christ's hands and heart in this world. (Midwife to souls in a weary land.)
a congregation saved by Grace, rooted in the Word, sharing Christ with people along the Kentville Road and around the world.
How will we be thinking and acting? Prayerfully, Faithfully, Intentionally, Compassionately, Enthusiastically/Joyfully!
